Blueberry Morning

Got some fresh blueberries from the Midtown Global Market... I just love that place, there's no way around it. And can I just say the irony has not been lost on me that the minute I'm dating someone officially the dating business is taking off? Maybe me being more comfortable has somehow improved the mood of the local singles scene? I was apparantly bringing everyone down hahaha

Went to a co-workers housewarming party last night and had a great time. Wish new chicka could have come with but she was attending her ten year high school reunion. Yes I'm robbing the cradle but just a little bit and she's within the decade rule so just back off ! And I somehow managed to get ketchup on my blueberries. Well not somehow, I know it's from my afterparty breakdown stop at a pale medival housing (r) establishment for french fries and my excited ketchup squirting got a little out of control. I'm paying for the krinkle fries today, but somehow it was worth the grease. Besides a little downfall helps me dig in the long haul of healthy eating. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Speaking of that phrase that I've been using for almost thirty years of excuses to parents/guardians/authority figures/engaged audiences.... Can I just say that I'm still irratated that some stupid actor boy made it poopular (sic) on SNL? How irratating.

Time to go watch some netflix that I been harboring. Take care of yourself... and each other!

It's my day! Worship me.

Sunday night friends tomorrow (or today after I sleep I guess) and sadly one of my best friend's email bounced... from his work. Very strange. Luckily I can fix that because.........

Are you the Messiah??

Meat Madness

So one of the reasons I was trying to avoid meat for the most part and avoid fast food totally was the most excellant book "Fast Food Nation" which is amazing and eye opening. It's now being made into a movie and here's a preview. It looks divine and it's been made into a (sick, sad) dark comedy which I happen to think is a wise move vs. the documentary it could be.

Kinda like one of my friends on myspace.... his photo is a slideshow that says "Going to McDonalds for a salad is like going to a crackhouse for vitamins" So there.

Juvenile Crime

Here's a decent article about the upswing in Juvenile crime in Minneapolis and the why. I hope I'm part of the solution by being a mentor for Big Brother Big Sister and for Bolder Options programs. So hopefully these kids aren't turning to a life of more serious crime.

And can I just say I love the Farmer's Market? I got some tasty, just picked veggies that I used in making some supper with K tonight (last night for those of you who are stickler for that midnight switchover) sitting out on the porch, enjoying the sudden rainstorm that broke the heatwave for a few minutes. Bliss.

Saw another good movie last night called "The Heart of the Game" about a high school basketball team in Seattle Washington. Documentuary, quite good. Saw it with K of course. Supper afterwards. Talked about my level of guilt keeping her awake late when she has school early in the morning, even though it's completly her decision to stay up. Oh well. She went to meet the Sunday night str8 friends this week and seemed to get on well. At least I know they didn't accidently chase this one away hahhaha. She was specifically invited next week, I wasn't but hopefully I can assume... and it's an hour earlier (nice!) and at one of my favorite places to visit, the Chatterbox. Super YAY!

Just watched an excellant movie called "Night Watch" a lovely russian vampire film. Even if you hate subtitles you will get the most enjoyment from watching the Russian version with English subtitles. The book author overtitles are excellant as well as the director's commentary. Yes I watched it twice in a row. I'm that dedicated.

And a kind of cool story if you have the time to peruse a bunch of photos. This bear travels around the nation "visiting" police and fire stations. Cute, if you're into that. There's a back story somewhere too. Enjoy.

Kids in my life

So I'm still a Big Sister for fifteen months now with same little boy, I'm also a mentor for BolderOptions biking program, second year but different girl. I took my Little to my friend's child's birthday party. Adorable the whole brood. I still wonder if I want a child as a part of my life on a more permanant basis. And if so, how. Research ensues. I've also been to all these events recently for Police Athletic League. Summer is a busy time for them since the kids are out of school for the most part.

I just took a survey for a grad student about volunteering and there were an awful lot of questions about whether volunteering is used to boost my own self-esteem and make myself feel better as a guise for helping these poor underpriveledged children. Maybe it was just the mood but it seems like I do. It's almost boasting when I talk about my volunteer work... I dunno. Maybe it's time for a haircut for Locks of Love. Or just to ignore the world and be introspective for awhile....

Independance Day Weekend

Friday Saturday nothing special work work. Sunday slept, woke up felt ill, slept, dragged myself to see a friend that I had previously planned, knew life was going to be no good, called in ill to work, went home and slept *FOR FOURTEEN HOURS*. Monday evening finally woke up for more than a trip to consume or expel more water and went to work. Tuesday worked overtime from 1430-1830 went home saw dad and had supper, took some digital photos of the fireworks on the way back to work 2230-0230. Wednesday saw the cutie for a floor picnic in her new brownstone condo and sipping some wine in her back yard. Off of work so I slept some more.
