So why don't men volunteer?

So I'd like to take it as a compliment to my butchness that my upcoming Big Sister/Big Brother match is actually going to be a tiny, adorable, little boy for me to teach motorcycle repair and Aussie Rules Football.

Except I happen to know the real reason is that no men volunteer. The matchmaker has a near constant pool of about twenty to thirty boys waiting for Bigs and currently has only three girls. (One super girly who wants to play with makeup and hang out at the mall, one other parents didn't approve of me, and third is my agreement with matchmaker as non-ideal situation) So why don't men volunteer? Is it more acceptable for women to give/accept help? Really I'd like to hear from anyone on this one...

I think that in general, men with brothers aren't looking for more brothers, and men with no brothers don't know what they're missing. And if a man wants a son, he wants a wife as part of the package.

How do you balance volunteer work and a full-time job? Your typical male probably sees each as exclusive of the other.

Besides, isn't volunteer work for the women folk and senior citizens? Bahahaha....

Personally, I don't volunteer because I have a family. And before that, I just didn't seek out information on volunteering. I have no excuse.

Well we do have one friend in common that did some volunteer work (CS) but it was for SINGLE volunteers. So basically hetreo, why can't I spell hetero right? Anyways str8 guys will participate if there's going to be chicks there. Which somehow is sleazier to me than just not volunteering. But whatever work I guess.
