People are animals
The funny thing about a blog, especially when it's kinda new, is that there are a hundred things that you have rolling through your head that you want to impress upon the "public" and I may have figured out how to get rid of a couple right now. Work last night was horribly busy. Anytime the local weather starts to get a little warm, people who have been cooped up in their houses all winter let all the aspects of their spring fever come out into the open. I will also admit that is me too. (see friday's post) But the one thing I don't understand is thedifferent ways that all of us are expressing the same general instinctual feelings. I feel no need to drink until I pass out (that's reserved for republican parties), assault or be assualted by any member of my family (he was 3 and I wouldn't give him what he wanted, and he wasn't really aiming for my eye), mug a neighbor as she's walking home (poor B) or go harass/beat unconcious some queers who haven't done a thing to you (Santa Fe, NM and St Paul, MN). But those are the things that other people do because every single one (and then some) has happened within the past couple of days. And some have happened to me. Now luckily I'm physically unharmed due to my charm and wit difusing a difficult situation. But I can't say the same for my friend's and neighbors. Even though I have had all sorts of training I still do not understand why people stay in abusive relationships, and I don't think walking to your car from a bar or restaurant should be a dangerous activity.
So here's my request for the day. Take something that really bothers you about someone else, use your spring fever energy to wrestle with your opinion, and come to accept this thing. Stop making excuses for poor behavior and next time you see some injustice in front of you take action. Even if that action is just running away and calling the police. Make a stand for yourself towards someone who isn't treating you right, with full knowledge that standing up sometimes means someone who is good 95% of the time and a cancerous leech 5% of the time may not want to talk to someone that calls them on their crap EVER AGAIN. Use your spring fever energy to wrestle with the loss, and come out happier or at least more at peace in the end.
Here's another website to check out.
V-Day
And on that note, I'm going to work to dispatch more squads to more people who can't get along and are victims of crimes. But I do like my job, no really.
